Breast Counseling at our practice in Nicosia
Why is breast screening important?
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), globally, more than 2 million women develop breast cancer every year, and 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. The likelihood of developing varies, depending on genetic predisposition, age, and lifestyle. Screening, especially in women with a family history of breast cancer, saves lives.
Specialized breast counseling
During your visit, we begin by gathering personal and family medical histories to assess the potential elevated risk of breast malignancy. Should the history indicate an increased likelihood of genetic predisposition, we offer genetic counseling. If desired, the woman can opt for genetic analysis, allowing us to investigate genes associated with breast cancer and other types of malignancies.
